Bus Crash Kills 8, Injures Dozens

A bus bound for a casino flipped over Sunday evening on a rural road in Williams, killing at least eight people. The accident also injured dozens of other passengers. The accident scene was about 60 miles north of Sacramento.

Authorities reported early Monday that the bus driver, Quinton Joey Watts, 52, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence. Watts suffered serious injuries and was still hospitalized as of Monday morning.

The bus reportedly had an invalid license plate from Texas and was headed for the Colusa Casino Resort after leaving Sacramento. Many of the passengers were reportedly Laotian.

Sacramento Woman Missing Since Last Sunday

Sacramento police continue to search for a 38-year-old woman who has been missing since last Sunday afternoon.

According to authorities, Jennifer McSweeney left her home around 3 p.m. and has been missing since. She reportedly left by foot and just had her house keys with her at the time. Police state that it is not like McSweeney to just up and go away without being in touch with family or friends.

She is described as white, 5' 7", 145 pounds with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was reportedly last seen wearing plaid shorts, and a beige T-shirt and sandals.

PETA Ad Talks Sex and Then Some

Is a new video from the animal rights group PETA over the top?

The "Sex Talk" advertisement has aired in several markets across the country, including here in Sacramento.

In the video, two parents urge their daughter to have a lot of sex and "pop out all the kids you want" - in the top 10 teen pregnancy states in order to push the cause of spaying and neutering pets.

Ironically, the 30-second ad kicked off earlier this year in the town of Kentwood, Louisiana. Yes, that is the hometown of one Jamie Lynn Spears, who at 17, recently gave birth.

6 Women Charged in ID Theft Shopping Spree

Many guys will tell you women love to shop. This, however, may have been a little too much store activity.

According to authorities, six women are accused of swiping credit card information and spending more than $1 million in a shopping spree that ran from San Francisco to Sacramento.

The women reportedly used the financial information they obtained to purchase gift cards. Once getting the gift cards, they used them to buy designer purses, expensive electronic gadgets and clothing. The six also reportedly swiped money from ATM machines with the cards.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities report that the six are linked to an international credit card fraud ring, with ties to Eastern Europe.

Ranging in age from 21 to 37, the six are not done with authorities. Three of the women entered guilty pleas to ID theft and fraud, with the other three awaiting trial.

UPDATE: UC Davis to Discipline Striking Workers

UC Davis officials said on Monday that the strike against the UC system is illegal and they will enforce disciplinary measures in accordance with the law against the striking employees as necessary.

UC Davis employees walked off their jobs early Monday in a dispute over wages, demonstrating at several sites, including UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.

Hundreds of picketers demonstrated in front of the Medical Center, holding signs, chanting and urging passing motorists to honk their vehicle horns in support.

Some demonstrators did not seem too concerned about the threat of disciplinary actions for not showing up for work.
