War Vet Arrested in Death of Girlfriend, 19

Police allege that an Iraq war veteran beat his 19-year-old girlfriend to death in a San Clemente condo.

According to authorities, John Wylie Needham, 25, who was awarded a Purple Heart for a combat injury last year, was arrested late Monday evening after allegedly struggling with sheriff's deputies who went to the condo on the report of an argument. Needham, who was in the Army for about two years, was reportedly subdued with a Taser.

Once inside, police reportedly found the body of the woman, later declared dead at San Clemente Hospital.
