Band Director Charged for Alleged Sex with Student

A music teacher at El Modena High School has been charged with sexual misconduct with a male student.

Carlie Rose Attebury, 29, who was the school's band director, is charged with eight felony counts: two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and six other counts, including dissuading a witness from reporting a crime. She was arrested last month and freed on $50,000 bail.

According to an Oct. 13 e-mail to city officials from the Orange Police Department, the student admitted to having "sexual encounters with a teacher."

Attebury, who allegedly had sex with the student in February and April of this year, has since been placed on unpaid leave.

as of having mrs. attebury as my band teacher for three years....its pretty disapointing..... we, the band, work soooo hard to become what we are today, and for her throw all that work away is just sad. its very twisted and sickening, but i think this whole age thingy is stupid. it was never a law years ago. how can this really be illegal.. im not saying its not wrong wat she did, i just dont understand why our country is worried about a teacher having sex with a boy (which they might like eachother) when we are hitting rough economy, and how there are murders everyday, the war in iraq, gas prices.....there are more important things to worry about. i hope mrs. A (ATTEBURY) DOESNT get sent to jail for 8years. it isnt right and fair. the boy she had intercourse with , which i know, enjoyed it.....so why isnt he introuble? oh i forgot because he was 15...so this is when age doesnt matter...right? so he can get away with it....bullshit. plus keeping mrs. attebury away from her band kids and crew is already hard enough....people screw up in life and we all learn from our mistakes..... was it right for her to do that? no, but is it okay for the boy to get away with it...u anwser the question America......why being of a certain age for love is a law???
