California lawmakers have given the green light to legislation that calls for comprehensive health insurance plans to include maternity coverage.
The bill (Assemblyman Hector De La Torre, D-South Gate) passed the State Senate today in a 23-15 vote. The Assembly had given its approval to the bill back in May.
Federal law mandates that group health insurance plans offered by employers with at least 15 workers include maternity coverage.
