Hermonegenes Llanos and Jorge Luis Matos reportedly crossed into Tijuana with firearms and some 6,000 rounds of ammunition at the San Ysidro crossing. The two are from the Monterey area.
The officers, who could get up to 20 years in prison, may face a variety of charges, the majority of them involving the possession of weapons and equipment restricted under Mexican law to military use.
