'Backpack Bomber' Hits Another Bank

Law enforcement reports that a man thought to be one of two suspects dubbed the "Backpack Bomber" robbed a Bank of the West branch in Santa Ana Wednesday morning. If that is the case, that would bring the number of holdups believed connected to the duo to eight.

The two men, one white and one black, rob banks individually but have been brought together as a result of description, mode of operation as well as other factors.

According to the FBI, the man who held up the Santa Ana bank, 3931 S. Bristol St., at about 11 a.m., was black.

The robberies have taken place in both Los Angeles and Orange counties. Authorities said the bandits issue verbal demands for cash and carry either a backpack or a black gym bag.

The white man is described as in his 40s and about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He wears prescription glasses and a silver wedding ring. The other man is described as a mustachioed black man in his 40s, about 6' 3" and 180-200 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call
the FBI at (888) CANT HIDE, or (310) 477-6565.
