Former California Insurance Commissioner and current Lt. Gov. John Garamendi announced Thursday morning that he will run for the state's governor post in 2010. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is in the second of his two terms.Garamendi, a Democrat, ran unsuccessfully for the governor's post in 1982 and 1994. He also lost the 1986 primary for controller to future governor Gray Davis.
Garamendi became the state's first elected insurance commissioner in 1990, a post he held for one term.
